ABB’s turnkey project scope includes the design, engineering, supply and commissioning of 765kV and 400kV air-insulated switchgear substations.

Major equipment to be supplied will include circuit breakers, current transformers, capacitive voltage transformers, protection equipment including surge arrestors as well as IEC 61850 compliant substation automation, control and protection systems.

The substations are being developed under the Associated Transmission System (ATS) scheme to support the 4,000MW Sasan power project.

ABB power systems division head Peter Leupp said that these substations will increase capacity as well as improve the reliability and efficiency of the transmission grid.
