The solution will be used by the utility’s 500 mobile and 50 office workers for all the City’s field work in both the electric and water business units.

Tacoma Public Utilities is the largest department in the city’s government, providing utility services to their 169,000 consumers through Tacoma Power and Tacoma Water.

Tacoma Public Utilities chief technology officer Joe Tellez said: “Having reached the end-of-life of our existing legacy system, we went to the market for a replacement that would meet the needs of our field force digital modernization initiative.

“We selected Clevest as their solution provided a proven migration path, and met our requirement to be flexible, expandable, and easily configurable. Clevest’s previous experience in replacing similar legacy systems at other utilities was also an important factor in our decision.”

Clevest Mobile Workforce Management will be deployed through an agile implementation process, creating a true collaboration between both teams with faster delivery than traditional linear project methods. Clevest’s solution will be integrated with the utility’s enterprise systems.

The deployment will include Clevest’s WorkSpace for office users and dispatchers, and WorkBook for mobile (field) users. Tacoma’s Public Utilities’ team will also be trained on Clevest’s Genesis Configuration solution in order to bring about system enhancements themselves.

Clevest global vice president sales David Trotter said: “We are pleased to partner with Tacoma Public Utilities with the latest version of our Mobile Workforce Management solution and support their business processes across the electric and water divisions.

“Our successful history of upgrading from legacy systems will be a major asset during this deployment.”

To date, 220 utilities have selected Clevest to manage their field workers, crews and contractors. Combined, the Clevest solution serves 100M+ consumers through 12,000+ mobile workers and 1,200+ dispatchers.
