The order is for the supply of 22 V136-4.2 MW turbines and nine V150-4.2 MW turbines for the Backhammar Wind Farm, which will be built between the municipalities of Kristinehamn and Degerfors in Central Sweden.

Under its contract, Vestas will be responsible for the supply, installation and commissioning of the wind turbines. The company has also signed a 15-year Active Output Management 5000 (AOM 5000) service agreement.

Vestas said that the Backhammar Wind Farm will be integrated with its VestasOnline Business SCADA solution to lower turbine downtime and streamline the energy output.

The Swedish wind farm will be constructed by Eolus, which sold it last week to investment and asset manager KGAL for €131m. KGAL will provide construction financing for the Backhammar Wind Farm, which is scheduled to break ground this year for a grid connection slated for mid 2020.

Previously, Eolus had collaborated with Vestas on projects totaling nearly 900MW in Sweden. The Danish wind turbine manufacturer Vestas has installed over 3.3GW of wind turbines in Sweden and the current contract from Eolus marks the first order for the V150-4.2 MW turbines in Sweden.

According to Vestas, the 4MW platform was launched in 2010 and extended in 2017 with three new turbines, including the V136-4.2 MW and V150-4.2 MW variants. The turbine manufacturer claims to have installed close to 20GW of 4MW platform turbines across the world.
