The projects, which have already started construction, are being developed by Grid Essence UK, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Grid Essence Holdings.

Yingli will provide YGE series modules to the ground-mounted solar projects located in the south of England and Wales, while modules are expected to be delivered between February and March 2014.

The seven projects, which are scheduled for grid connection by the end of Q1 2014, are expected to generate around 54,500MWh of green electricity per year.

Grid Essence co-founder and CEO Steve Bourbonnais said the projects are critical for the company to achieve renewable energy target within the next five years.

"By leveraging our track record of success in solar project development and combined with Yingli Solar’s great brand reputation, we are confident that this cooperation will bring us a sustainable growth," Bourbonnais added.

Yingli Green Energy chairman and CEO Liansheng Miao said, "We are pleased to partner with Grid Essence on these projects while at the same time making a positive contribution to the burgeoning solar industry in the U.K."
