Wood Group GTS has been awarded contracts to perform steam turbine outages at five US power plants.

Having a combined value of $4.2m, the contracts are scheduled to complete in the first half of 2014.

A steam turbine outage requires thorough inspection of components, expedited repairs, as well as a detailed project plan that incorporates the ability to replace damaged parts within the scheduled outage window.

Wood Group GTS-Power Plant Services president Frank Avery said the company apply its Core Value of Safety, extensive experience, and a full tooling and equipment package to complete maintenance events, while focusing on overall outage schedule, quality and cost management.

"As a leading provider of steam turbine outage services, our experienced field service team performs over three million hours a year of onsite maintenance for all major steam and gas turbines," Avery added.

Wood Group GTS provides a single point of contact for project management, a core team of skilled technical specialists and inspectors, mobile tooling containers, and the on-site consumable kits required to meet customer expectations.

The company has recently completed two steam turbine major inspections.
