Denmark-based wind turbine manufacturer Vestas has secured an order to supply turbines with a total generating capacity of 149MW for a wind energy project in Canada.

The company will deliver and commission 83 units of its V90-1.8MW turbine and provide maintenance services for ten years.

The turbines are scheduled to be delivered next year, with commissioning expected in late 2012.

Vestas said this is the second order the company received in Canada this year, and it has secured five orders in North America this year equating to 774MW.

In April 2011, the company secured an order for 58 units of its V90-1.8MW turbine in Canada.
