Situated in Lawrence County, Pennsylvania, the natural gas facility is currently in the construction phase. It is expected to start commercial operations in April 2020.
Upon completion, the Hickory Run plant will deliver power to the PJM Electric Market. It will be capable of supplying power for about 1,000,000 homes
The 5,000-gpm raw water treatment system at the facility will incorporate Veolia’s Actiflo high-rate clarification, Hydrotech Discfilter and AnoxKaldnes Moving Bed Biofilm Reactor (MBBR) technologies.
Veolia said the feed water to the facility will be effluent from the local public owned treatment works (POTW) and will be used as plant cooling water and boiler feed water after demineralization.
The power station will conserve 5,000 gpm of fresh water resources by using treated sewage effluent instead of fresh water.

The Hickory Run power plant to be constructed by Kiewit Power Constructors will feature the Siemens H-class technology.
It will feature two Siemens SGT6-8000H gas turbine generators, two heat recovery steam generators (HRSGs), and a Siemens steam turbine generator.
Siemens Financial Services is providing an equity investment and will own 20% of the project alongside Tyr Energy and Kansai Electric Power Co.
Tyr Energy affiliates will offer construction management services during the construction phase and asset management services during commercial operations.
NAES, a Tyr Energy affiliate, will deliver operations and maintenance services to the project.
