VA Tech Hydro is to develop an 84 MW hydro project in India after winning an order from the Meghalaya State Electricity Board (MeSEB).

The Myntdu Leshka HEP Project will be developed by VA Tech Hydro subsidiaries VA TechH India and VA Tech Escher Wyss Flovel.

The contract, valued at around €12 million, will see the project located on river Myntdu in the Jaintia Hills district of Meghalaya approximately 130 km from Shillong. The scope of the contract includes design, manufacturing, supply, installation and commissioning of 2 units of 42 MW Francis Turbines and Generators, Digital Governors and Excitation systems. The total contract is due to be completed in 28 months.
