The US Naval Facilities Engineering Command (NAVFAC) will deploy Elster's gas and water metering solutions across 14 U.S. military bases, in a bid to improve operational efficiencies and to cost-effectively manage energy resources.

Three types of Elster American Meter residential, commercial and industrial gas meters are being deployed, which include the AC-250, AL-425, AC-630, AL-800 and AL-1000; CMTC RPM rotary gas meters and Elster American Meter turbine meters.

The gas meters offer accurate measurement, long-term performance and its heavy duty design resists bending and lock-ups.

In addition, Elster AMCO Water T4000 and TS4000 turbine meters are also being installed which offer minimal pressure loss coupled with minimal debris damage.

The company will partner with NAVFAC to monitor and manage energy consumption across facilities in line with the Energy Policy Act of 2005.

The policy offers tax incentives and loan guarantees for implementation of technologies which reduce dependence on fossil fuels.

Also the Energy Independence and Security Act of 2007, which mandates improvements in the energy performance of the Federal Government.

Elster is also a supplier to Schneider Electric, a global specialist in energy management with dedicated groups for the federal government and the US Department of Defense.
