UQM Technologies, a developer of alternative energy technologies, has completed an agreement with Electric Vehicles International (EVI), a California-based EV company, to supply its PowerPhase 150kW electric propulsion systems for use in EVI’s new electric medium-duty truck, EVI MD and electric walk-in van, EVI WI.

The initial term of the supply agreement is one year. Deliveries of the first 50 systems are expected to begin in June and be completed by October 2010.

The EVI MD and EVI WI are commercial vehicles with gross vehicle weight ratings of a Class 4 (14,001lbs) up to a Class 6 (26,000lbs).

The company said that powered by a UQM PowerPhase electric propulsion system that delivers 664ft-lb of torque and using an Eaton 6-speed ultrashift automatic transmission, the EVI MD and EVI WI have a top speed of 60 miles per hour.

In addition, the cars feature Valence Technology U-Charge XP lithium iron magnesium phosphate batteries, which provide the cars a range of up to 115 miles per charge using.
