The solar park, spread over an area of about 33-acres, employs 33,600 solar panels and will meet around 13% of the energy needs at the plant.

Phoenix Solar US has provided the photovoltaic system to the plant while Solar Ranch developed it.

Unirac noted that the close collaboration with Phoenix Solar US has helped the company to engineer a superior product while reducing the total installation cost of the solar project.

The Unirac ground mount technology that is specifically made for the Volkswagen Solar Park project, combines its ISYS Ground Mount 2.0 with custom racking, resulting in an optimized total installed cost.

This method has generated a shorter project turnaround time and reduced field-labor, allowing Volkswagen to achieve greater cost savings, said Unirac.

Commenting on the collaboration Unirac CEO Peter Lorenz said that opportunity to work with Phoenix Solar US and Silicon Ranch showcases the company’s ability to accommodate a broad range of foundation options in a major commercial project such as this one.
