On 30 July 2013, SMart Wind submitted an application seeking development consent for Project One, which comprises up to three offshore wind farms, consisting of up to 332 wind turbine generators, together with associated infrastructure and all associated development.

SMart Wind, a joint venture between Mainstream Renewable Power and Siemens Project Venture, and DONG Energy are the owners of Project One, which covers 407km2, situated 103km off the Yorkshire coast.

Construction of the plant will begin following Secretary of State for Energy’s decision, which is expected by the end of 2014. If constructed in time, the project will contribute to meeting the UK’s 2020 renewable energy targets.
