U-Thong Bio Power has selected AREVA and its local partner ENSYS for the construction of a biomass power plant in the Supanburi Province, in the North-West of Thailand.

The power plant will be fueled by rice husk and by bagasse.

It will produce a total output of 9.9MW electrical power, enough to provide 6000 to 8000 households with green electricity.

The total value of the biomass power project is $17m and the facility is scheduled for completion at the end of 2013.

AREVA Bioenergy CEO Xavier Hurbin said the deal reinforces AREVA’s offerings reference position in the South-East Asian market.
