Under the terms of the contract, which is valued at about $8.3m, Tri-Tech US will deploy a multiple effect thermocompression (MED-TC) desalination unit for the utility plant at Mesaieed Industrial City.

Tri-Tech US general manager said Jim Schwartz said the desalination unit will use the company’s MED-TC design, will be fully automated to require minimal operator attention and will operate efficiently at low temperatures to reduce scaling.

Tri-Tech US has agreed to perform the design, engineering, fabrication, commissioning, performance testing and on-site training for QAPCO’s technical personnel.

The design capacity of Tri-Tech’s MED-TC desalination unit will be 240 cubic meters per hour.

The company expects to deliver the desalination unit for the utility plant by November 2012.

Tri-Tech Holding designs customized sewage treatment and odor control systems for municipalities and private sectors in China and international markets.

The company also designs systems that track natural waterway levels for drought control, monitor groundwater quality and assist the Chinese government in managing its water resources.
