Integrated energy firms Total and Saudi Aramco have joined Energistics, the upstream oil and gas open standards consortium, increasing the number of participating upstream members to 89.

According to Energistics, the new memberships have capped a successful year in which 27 new members including energy companies, oilfield service firms, professional service companies and software companies joined the consortium.

Energistics said that it facilitates an inclusive user community for the development, deployment and maintenance of collaborative technologies using open data exchange standards for the upstream oil and natural gas industry.

The consortium claims that deployment of its open data exchange standards promotes interoperability between trading partners and implements universally applicable solutions that deliver tangible bottom-line results across the entire exploration and production life cycle.
