Tollgrade Communications, Inc. (Tollgrade) is introducing new LightHouse distribution grid monitoring system at DistribuTECH 2009. The company's LightHouse solution is designed to offer real-time grid intelligence by utilizing sensors that continuously monitor the key circuit parameters while transmitting data over a wireless network to the central location. The new system decreases time of detecting a problem on the grid, identifying its location and the restoring service.

The availability of the new LightHouse solution coincides with DistribuTECH Conference & Exhibition, which is being held in San Diego, from February 3 to February 5, 2009.

The company’s officials will be demonstrating its new centralized remote monitoring system to enhance service delivery for the power utility operations and efficiency of electric grid systems at Booth #2239 at the San Diego Convention Center.

We have recently completed development of the first LightHouse release and are pleased that it has achieved general availability, said Joseph Ferrara, president and chief executive officer of Tollgrade. This smart grid solution remains in active trials with multiple electric utilities, and we have a number of trials planned with customers and partners in the coming quarters, added Ferrara.

In 2008, the company was among the companies selected by US Department of Energy to be a part of a multi-year project called West Virginia Super Circuit. Also, the company is a member of the national consortium GridWise Alliance that includes the leading US companies and organizations that are participating in the Alliance’s collective effort to transform nation’s electric power and distribution systems.
