Indian power utility Tata Power has reported an after-tax profit of INR1.15 billion for the third quarter ended December 31, 2008, compared to INR1.97 billion for the same period of 2007.

The company has reported revenues of INR17.77 billion for the third quarter of 2008, a 25.18% increase compared to INR14.19 billion for the same period of 2007.

For the first nine months of 2008, the company has reported after-tax profit of INR5.67 billion, compared to INR6.45 billion for the same period of 2007. Year-to-date revenues were INR57.62 billion, compared to INR42.81 billion for the same period of 2007.

The company’s Hydro Power Station recorded higher generation of 39 MUs up by 14.98%. Belgaum Power Station also reported increase in generation to 129 MUs due to higher demand by KPTCL, said the power company.

Prasad Menon, managing director of Tata Power, said: Our current operations continue to be robust and our revenues have been higher in all the power businesses. All our generating assets at Trombay, Hydros, Jojobera and Belgaum have performed well.
