The damaged power house of a hydroelectric plant in Washington, US is to receive refurbishment work worth US$17M.

VA Tech Hydro is to supply electromechanical equipment to the Swift No. 2 power plant; a Cowlitz County Public Utility District operated facility, which was damaged in 2002 by a breach of the power canal.

The contract is to include the supply of two 35MW Francis turbines, new runners, digital governors, static exciters, restacking and rewinding of generators and complete balance of plant.

The power plant is expected to be generating electricity by September 2005.
