Wind turbine manufacturer Suzlon has signed a contract with Tierra Energy to provide 42 of its S88-2.1 MW turbines for projects located in Wyoming and Texas.

The deal includes 28 turbines for the Ocotillo project near Big Spring, in Texas while the remaining 14 turbines are destined for the Happy Jack project, located near Cheyenne in Wyoming.

The contract also includes a five-year operations, maintenance and services deal.

Both projects will take delivery of the turbines in spring of 2008.

Suzlon, meanwhile, has also increased its takeover bid for German wind developers REpower Systems. Suzlon increased its offer from €126 to €150 per share, topping the price offered by Areva by €10 and valuing REpower at €1.22 billion.

Suzlon has already secured 627,000 REpower shares, representing 7.7% of the share capital.
