Sunrise Power has resumed the operations at its Sunrise natural gas-fired power plant in California on June 22, 2009, reported Reuters as informed by the California Independent System Operator.

The facility was closed on June 19, 2009 for planned and normal reasons. The plant generates approximately 545 megawatts (MW) of power.

Chevron Corp, an oil company in California and Edison Mission, a subsidiary of power company Edison International, each own 50% of Sunrise Power. The facility is operated by Edison Mission.

The combined-cycle production station is situated in Fellows in Kern County around 130 miles north of Los Angeles and 35 miles southwest of Bakersfield, California. The facility comprises one 245 MW steam turbine and two 150 MW gas turbines. One MW power supplied by the plant can serve around 700 homes in California.

Edison International owns and operates approximately 14,000 MW of generating capacity, transmits and distributes electricity to around 4.8 million customers in central and Southern California, and markets energy commodities in North America.
