The solar facility being built on the 144 acres of formerly private agricultural land, is being developed by Iberdrola Renewables which will also own and operate it.

The facility will use the SunPower Oasis modular PV plant product, a fully integrated, power block that is engineered to rapidly and cost-effectively deploy utility-scale solar projects while optimizing land use.

Each power block integrates the SunPower T0 Tracker with SunPower’s E19 series solar panels, pre-manufactured system cabling, and other advanced features.

Construction on the solar facility began in December 2010 and is expected to be fully operational in 2011.

Utility provider Salt River Project will purchase the electricity generated by the facility under a long-term contract, for distribution on the region’s utility grid.
