Valued at over $425m, the scope of the contract includes provision of EPCM services for the mineral processing plant, a liquid natural gas (LNG) power plant and other on-site utilities.

Work on the project has commenced and is scheduled to be completed by December 2016.

The project team along with Americas and AMEC Americas will manage diamond processing and recovery units.

SNC-Lavalin executive vice-president Dale Clarke said: "This award is testament to our project execution capabilities around the world, including regions where climatic conditions can be challenging."

Renard’s ore production is expected to be over 2.16 million tons a year, with an anticipated average diamond production of 1.6 million carats.
