The move comes after the completion of the project’s C$946m financing on 8 July and approval from the shareholders of resolutions relating to the financing.

Work on the project has been fully mobilized with plans to begin commercial production in the second quarter of 2017 following the expected first plant commissioning in late 2016.

Stornoway Diamond president and CEO Matt Manson said: "The Renard Diamond Project is now fully permitted, financed, and ready to build."

Located approximately 250 km north of the Cree community of Mistissini, the Renard diamond project is said to host probable mineral reserves of 17.9 million carats.

Total indicated mineral resources at the property are at 27.1 million carats, with a further 16.85 million carats inferred mineral resources and 25.7 to 47.8 million carats non-resource exploration upside.
