According to Fool.co.uk, for the millions of households with British Gas, it may not be necessary to switch energy suppliers in order to save money as its energy comparison partner Xelector has unearthed two British Gas products that could potentially result in cheaper energy bills.

The two products include the Green Click Energy Paperless Billing Tariff and the Click Energy Paperless Billing Tariff. Switching to these specific tariffs could save British Gas customers money.

Rising energy prices has been a hot topic of discussion among the UK government and consumers. According to Ofgem, the UK energy regulator, four million households switched and saved in the first 10 months of 2006, pushing British Gas’ share of the household gas market down to 48% as of October 2006.

David Kuo, head of personal finance at Fool.co.uk, said: Loyalty can be a wonderful attribute to have, but not if you are being charged too much for being faithful.

It is quite extraordinary that British Gas would want to keep their gems hidden away from the public. The energy provider will probably not thank us for bringing the cheaper tariffs to the attention of its customers. But consumers need to consider all the options and deserve honest price comparisons in order to make informed choices, he added.
