Silver Spring Networks (SSN) has been selected by Pepco Holdings, Inc. (Pepco) to provide advanced networking products and services to build a smart grid network that will serve its 1.9 million customers in Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey and Washington. Pepco has selected SSN’s smart energy network in support of its Blueprint for the Future initiative surrounding a variety of smart grid solutions, including advanced metering, distribution monitoring and control and home automation.

SSN was selected after a rigorous market review to support Pepco’s Blueprint for the Future initiative. Silver Spring Networks and PHI have signed a definitive agreement and deployment activity is in progress. Initial deployments will occur in the Delmarva Power & Light service territory in Delaware, with full deployment to all PHI customers anticipated by 2013, pending regulatory approvals. Under the multi-year agreement, Silver Spring Networks will provide network infrastructure, devices, software and a variety of services in support of Pepco’s efforts.

SSN provides an open, secure, proven networking platform that will enable Pepco to realize current goals as well as additional operational and environmental benefits in the future.
