Southern California Edison (SCE) has signed three power purchase agreements (PPAs) with power producer SunPower for a total of 711MW of solar power projects in California.

Electricity to be sold under these contracts will be generated at the Rosamond and Los Banos sites.

According to SCE, the 711MW capacity will provide the equivalent power required for more than 460,000 average California homes.

SunPower president of utility and power plants business group Howard Wenger said that this 711MW commitment by SCE reflects the growing value of solar photovoltaic technology as a reliable, cost-effective energy resource delivered across rooftops or as a central-station power plant.
