Finnish company SOK will sell on around a third of the Esso petrol station business it recently acquired control of in its home market to private company St1, industry media reports have suggested.

According to the media accounts, SOK will divest approximately 70 of the 200 Esso petrol forecourts it has taken complete ownership of, although the value of the deal has not been divulged.

St1 is a major independent fuel retailer in the Finnish market, operating 270 petrol sales points in the Nordic country, of which 170 are unmanned stations.

The news of the sell-on comes barely a week after SOK announced that it was to buy total control of Esso’s Finnish operation.
