SNC-Lavalin of Quebec, Canada has signed an agreement with CAE Electronics through which SNC-Lavalin will acquire CAE’s energy control systems division (ECSD). The sale was set to be completed by the end of May.

CAE’s ECSD provides specialised systems for the control and monitoring of electrical power generation, transmission and distribution. CAE has

sold and serviced these real-time integrated software and hardware solutions to utilities around the world for some 40 years.

SNC-Lavalin has had an extensive involvement in power projects since the founding of the company in 1911. Throughout the years, it has developed a leading position in hydroelectric, nuclear and thermal power generation, transmission and distribution. The company has worked on a number of power plants with a total capacity of more than 220,000MW, and on the installation of some 75,000km of transmission and distribution lines.
