The Sarhad Hydel Development Organisation (SHYDO) in Pakistan says it will privatise all of its small hydro stations due to financial losses, official sources in Peshawar said on 4 December.

There are over ten such stations in Malakand and Hazara which SHYDO can offer to the private sector. Some of the power stations would be leased out as the waterfalls the facilities are located on are owned by the provincial irrigation department.

It is expected that parties will soon be invited to show interest for the proposed privatisations.
