Haryana government in India’s Punjab state is taking steps to develop six small hydro power plants. The facilities will have a total installed capacity of 7025kW and will be developed in the private sector. The sites for the proposed units were approved in April 1999. Energy generated from them will be fed to the Haryana grid.

The energy development agency is shortly due to sign memoranda of understanding with the promoters to facilitate clearances and monitor the projects. The plants are scheduled to be commissioned within two years of signing the MoUs.
