The first commercial wind farm featuring Gamesa’s 4.5MW turbines has been commissioned in Finland.

Gamesa installed four of its G128 machines, which are designed to withstand low temperatures, for Finland-based TuuliWatti at the 18MW Simo project.

Gamesa claims that the turbines are the most powerful installed to date in Finland.

Simo is part of the framework agreement that Gamesa reached with TuuliWatti at the end of 2012 to supply 135MW of which 123MW have already become firm orders.

Apart from the Simo scheme, 54MW and 36MW of Gamesa’s 4.5 MW turbines will be supplied to the Tornio and Pori wind farms respectively and 15MW to the Salo project, which will use 5MW turbines.

Gamesa signed a second framework agreement with TuuliWatti in 2013 for the supply of up to 285MW of its 5MW turbines.
