The high purity lithium carbonate will be used to produce cathode battery materials and LiPF6 for electrolytic salts used in electrolyte solutions, critical components for electric vehicles and other clean-energy storage applications.
Simbol Materials has started commercializing of the technology at it’s facilities in Imperial Valley California, US.
Currently a demonstration plant is in operation, which will be followed by commercial plants to produce lithium, manganese, and zinc materials, advancing the firm’s leadership in advanced battery materials.
Japanese firm ITOCHU will handle the sales of Simbol Materials’ lithium products, including high purity products in Asia.
