By the end of 2014, CPFL will implement the next phase of smart grid technology for 25,000 commercial and industrial customers in the state of Rio Grande do Sul.

Later 2013, CPFL is also expecting to advance the existing Silver Spring networking platform to rollout smart grid technology for residential, low-voltage customers.

Silver Spring Networks Brazil country manager Arthur Lobato said that the company is excited to help CPFL leverage its underlying platform to deliver more advanced smart grid solutions to its customers.

CPFL Energia engineering director Paulo Bombassaro said, "As a part of CPFL’s Tauron infrastructure modernization initiative, we’ve devoted much of our investment to this smart grid program."

Besides, both companies are also planning to partner on a distribution automation project, which will advance Silver Spring’s standards-based network.
