Siemens Energy has won an order from Brookfield Renewable Power for 72 of its 2.3MW wind turbines, equipped with 101 meter rotors, for the Comber wind energy project in Essex County, Ontario.

Once completed in September 2011, the 166MW wind project is expected to provide clean power for approximately 55,000 homes.

The scope of the contract includes supply and commissioning of the wind turbines, as well as a service, maintenance and warranty agreement.

Delivery of the wind turbines will begin in May 2011, and the Comber project is Brookfield Renewable Power’s third wind farm in Ontario.

This project is the second order that Siemens has received for wind turbines from Brookfield Renewable Power.

The companies first partnered on the 50MW Gosfield Wind project located in the Town of Kingsville, Essex County, in 2009.
