According to recent industry reports, Asian-themed food group Sharwood's is preparing to launch a range of 'restaurant quality' chilled sauces in the UK.

A report featured in specialist marketing portal Mad.co.uk has claimed that Sharwood's is hoping to tap into what it says is an underdeveloped chilled sauce market.

The report also revealed that Sharwood's believes that the market – which is currently dominated by Italian sauces with around 80% of the market – has the potential to reach GBP70 million over the next three years.

Sharwood's is looking to tap the growing demand for fresh ready-to-eat products with its new range of sauces that include Thai green curry, kashmiri korma, mughlai tikka and Hong Kong sweet and sour. The sauces will be available at Waitrose and Sainsbury’s stores from October.

The new range will follow the launch of Sharwood's latest offering of fresh naan breads that went on sale in Asda earlier this month.
