SCE’s solicitation seeks out long-term contracts for projects powered by biomass, biogas, solar, wind, oceanic, hydroelectric and geothermal fuels located in California. SCE is particularly looking for viable projects that will begin operating within three years of contract approval.

The company said that this solicitation will be its first open and competitive call for additional renewable power contracts under the Renewables Standard Contracts program. The goal is to provide a standardized contracting process that minimizes the time required to get to an executed power purchase agreement.

Marc Ulrich, vice president of renewable and alternative power at SCE, said: “We sign every contract with our customers in mind, and we hope that this new process provides renewable energy to our customers in a streamlined way.

“We are committed to delivering even more clean electricity as we work toward the state’s renewable goals and California’s green energy future.”

SCE expects to execute contracts from this solicitation in November and submit completed contracts to the California Public Utilities Commission for approval by January 2011.
