The 1,166MW portfolio comprises Grand Tower Energy Center, a 478MW combined cycle facility, Elgin Energy Center, a 460MW simple cycle facility and Gibson City Energy Center, a 228MW simple cycle facility.

Located in Illinois, US, all facilities are merchant, and sell energy and capacity into their respective markets.

Grand Tower and Gibson City are interconnected to the Midcontinent Independent System Operator (MISO) system, while Elgin is interconnected to the PJM system.

Rockland Capital Partner Shane Litts said, ”We find the fundamentals of the MISO market to be very interesting, and Elgin, in the PJM RTO sub region, complements our existing activities in PJM East.”

The transaction marks the first acquisition for Rockland Power Partners II (RPP II), a $425m investment fund closed in December 2013.
