The media players from the Digital Cube has Standard Definition (SD) multiple video playback and also audio playback capability with the highly optimized power management giving users up to 10 hours of video playback and 20 hours audio playback.
The new Digital Cube devices will use the game changing RMI Alchemy Au1300 Processor Family which is targeted at consumer devices needing superior CPU performance, High Definition (HD) media capabilities and the powerful 3D functionality. Digital Cube’s products will focus on the multi-function PMPs and 3D navigation devices with the WinCE 6.0 OS, 8GB to 32GB NAND flash memory and a 4 to 7 inch touch screen TFT LCD panel. The new products from Digital Cube will be available in the second quarter of 2009.
“We are pleased to announce RMI as our partner in our latest development for our mobile applications,” stated CH Koh, a director of R&D, Digital Cube. “We have built a strong relationship with RMI and the strong multimedia capabilities, 3D performance, and low power on the RMI Au1300 Processor are what we have come to expect from the team and we look forward to continued success as we offer solutions from mini PMP products to high-end MID products on a single Au1300 platform.”
The Alchemy Au1300 Processor is the new advanced, highest performing integrated processor for the portable media based applications, incorporating Mobile Internet Devices (MIDs), Home Media Player Devices like Advanced Digital Photo Frames, 3D Personal Navigation Devices (PNDs), Portable Media Players (PMPs), Audio/Video Networking, thin clients and the other multimedia devices. The Au1300 Processor takes advantage of the company’s new architecture to extend the performance and enrich the media experience beyond that of previous generation devices, while maintaining the overall system power rates of less than ½ watt. The Au1300 Processor also offers an enhanced Media Acceleration Engine (MAE2), offering hardware Bit Stream Acceleration and entropy decode that were formerly performed by CPU core. This novel approach allows High Definition (HD) video decode at drastically higher bit rates than prior generation devices and also frees up additional CPU performance headroom allowing multi-tasking capabilities like browsing, video chat and other communication features.
“We have had a long and prosperous relationship with Digital Cube, and we believe the innovation that they bring to their markets coupled with the advanced capabilities of the Au1300 family will continue to be a winning combination,” stated Mike Wodopian, vice president and general manager, RMI. “By being able to offer a solution that extends the performance levels to 800MHz at under ½ watt full chip power, while maintaining pin and software compatibility, gives our customers a distinct advantage in being able to have a scalable product offering.”
