As part of the deal, the company will serve as the engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contractor for the Newboro I and Newboro IV projects, which are intended to qualify for the province’s feed-in-tariff (FIT) program.
Newboro I and IV project, which are expected to complete in 2014, will use the SunEdison Silvantis 320 watt modules and Unirac fixed-tilt racks.
The projects that are situated in Eastern Ontario between the towns of Westport and Newboro, are expected to provide renewable energy to power around 4,000 average homes in the province, together.
The electricity from both the projects will be sold under a 20-year power purchase agreement with the Ontario Power Authority.
RES Canada development vice president Peter Clibbon said, "Their in-house engineering resources and the ability of their procurement team to source materials locally are benefits we really appreciate."
