Oil and gas company Repsol and Qatargas have signed a multiyear agreement under which Qatargas will supply LNG to Repsol Energy Canada at the Canaport LNG facility in Saint John, New Brunswick.

Qatargas will deliver natural gas to the Canaport facility using both Q-Max and Q-Flex vessels, which have capacity to carry the equivalent of approximately 5.6bcf and 4.6bcf of gas, respectively.

The Canaport facility is the land-based LNG receiving and regasification facility to be built in over 30 years on North America’s Atlantic coast, and Repsol has delivered over 100bcf of natural gas to Northeast US since it has opened.

The 1bcf per day facility supplies natural gas to homes, businesses and industry in Canada and the northeast US.

The new multiyear LNG supply agreement with Qatargas further enhances Repsol’s supply portfolio and its ability to provide more secure supplies of natural gas to eastern Canada and the northeast US markets, the company said.
