The modules will be manufactured at the facility, situated in Otawara city of Tochigi Prefecture in the country.

The plant, which is expected to hold total annual production capacity of 80MW, is slated to begin production in April 2014.

ReneSola CEO Xianshou Li said the JV will enable the company to meet government requirements for local manufacturing, a core advantage of firm’s OEM model.

"Our partnership with Vitec will also increase our cost competitiveness in Japan and enable us to provide our customers with an increased level of support," Li added.

ReneSola’s PV modules are available in markets such as the US, Germany, Italy, Belgium, China, Greece, Spain and Australia.
