New from Smith Flow Control is the Flexi-Drive, a versatile device for the remote operations of valves in hard to reach or hazardous locations.
Developed in association with the US Navy, the Flexi-Drive can be used in all weather conditions and is suitable for underwater applications.
The device consists of an operator station, comprising a geared hardwheel and mounting facility, together with a valve station and a patented cable linkage system. According to the company, the cable system can transmit drive to a valve up to 60m away and can accommodate up to 540? of bends. This allows it to be passed around and through walls, floors and other obstacles.
