The 116,400ft2 system employs 3,388 solar panels and is expected to produce approximately 1,152,464 kWh of clean electricity per year equivalent to reducing 795 tons of carbon dioxide.
IKEA Houston marketing Kim Castillo said, "We appreciate the continued support of the City of Houston, CenterPoint Energy, and REC Solar, our partners in this project."
This is the company’s 19th installation in the US with 20 more installations currently underway.
IKEA has also installed solar systems at its other stores in Frisco and Round Rock.
