The Qatari state-owned gas producer will deliver the LNG from its Qatargas 4 project to Britain’s Isle of Grain terminal for the next three years.

According to Centrica, the current deal will provide enough gas to meet approximately 10% of the annual residential gas demand in the UK, enough to meet the needs of around 2.5 million households.

This sales and purchase agreement concludes an original agreement worth £2bn ($3.29bn) reached by the companies in February this year.

Qatargas said that the UK is the world’s third largest consumer of gas, and Qatar supplied the country with 15% of its total gas demand last year.
