PSPCL chairman-cum-managing director KD Chaudhri said that Talwandi Sabo Power Limited, a subsidiary of Sterlite Energy Limited, has entered into a FSA with Mahanadi Coal Fields Limited and Nabha Power Limited, a unit of L&T Power Development Limited, which is developing Rajpura thermal power plant has signed a FSA with South Eastern Coalfields Limited.

Chaudhri said that the FSA for Talwandi Sabo plant was signed for quantity of 7.72 million tonnes per year, which will be supplied to the plant from Vasundhra Coal Field Mines, Sambalpur, Orissa.

Meanwhile, FSA for Rajpura thermal plant has been signed for 5.5 million tons annually which will be made available from mines at Raigarh, Bilaspur.

The plants would have supercritical technology that helps in generating extra power for the same quantity of coal and also assists in reducing pollution

The Talwandi Sabo thermal plant being set up at Village Banawali district Mansa is estimated to be online by November 2013 and Rajpura thermal plant being developed at village Nalash near Rajpura is likely to commission its first unit in December 2013.
