Approximately 520,000 utility meters in Oklahoma are expected to be replaced with advanced meter infrastructure (AMI) meters by the end of 2016, The Associated Press reports.

The new meters are scheduled to feature web accessible account and energy usage information, enhanced energy management and outage restoration, as well as improved customer service, according to the company.

Over 30,000 PSO customers in Owasso, Sand Springs, Okmulgee and at the University of Tulsa already use AMI meters.

A subsidiary of American Electric Power (AEP), PSO has customers in eastern and southwestern Oklahoma, US.
