The well has been drilled in the targeted Jurassic Obermalm 1 zone, at a depth of 485m, in which gas shows were traced out.

At about 200m, the well has been cased with sleeves, with remainder of the horizontal section being open hole.

The company said that Obermalm formation is a highly fractured dolomitic sandstone, which is embedded with shales and anhydrites.

According to PRD, the Northwest German basin includes attractive geologic and economic opportunities.

The company estimated that drilling, completion and construction of surface facilities costs around CAD $9.25m, of which CAD $6m has been spent, by September, 2013.
