The nuclear power plant has also exited ‘alert’ status yesterday evening after water levels at the station’s intake structure returned to normal.

The normal operations resumed at Oyster Creek less than 36 hours after Sandy pummeled the New Jersey coast with rains and surged tides.

Located at about 60 miles east of Philadelphia in Ocean County, the plant produces net 636MW at full power.

The company said station employees responded quickly to the storm’s challenges. Additional workers will return to the plant today to resume a refueling and maintenance outage that began 22 October.

Energy provider Exelon has operations and business activities in 47 states, the District of Columbia and Canada. It has about 35,000MW of owned capacity.
