The project includes a simple-cycle power generation facility to be built in Ashland, Virginia. The plant will repurpose General Electric 7FA combustion turbines from the DeSoto County Energy Park near Arcadia, Florida. Primoris was hired to dismantle the equipment at the DeSoto site, transport it to the new project site adjacent to the existing Doswell Energy Facility in Ashland, and re-install along with other equipment. POWER will subcontract to Primoris, completing detailed engineering and design of the Virginia power generation facility. The commercial operation date is in the first quarter of 2018 and the project will provide additional on-demand peaking electricity generation. The Doswell Energy Facility, Doswell Energy Facility Expansion and the DeSoto County Energy Park are owned by affiliates of the LS Power Group.

The partnership between Primoris and POWER was selected in a competitive bid process in which Primoris and POWER assisted ownership in optimizing the scope and engineering significant features to lower costs and allow a rapid schedule while maintaining plant performance.

“POWER Engineers takes great pride in being selected as the engineer-of-record on this important project for both Primoris and LS Power,” said Gerry Murray, Executive Vice President of POWER. “POWER will take this opportunity to demonstrate our full range of project engineering and design services to ensure the success of the Doswell Facility Expansion Project.”
