Construction work on the Porto Primavera plant in Brazil’s Sao Paulo state has been assured by the raising of R$2B through bonds and debentures.

The 1814MW plant’s first 100MW turbine was installed in July 1998, and two more turbines are due on site by the end of the year. Under the current commissioning schedule the plant is due to have capacity of 1100MW in operation by 2001.

Construction of Porto Primavera has so far cost utility Cesp some R$600M. The plant is expected to provide revenues of R$36M in annual revenue when it is fully operational.
